The Workday Architect is the enterprise design authority for Loblaw’s Workday HR ecosystem. This role is central to the evolution of People Technology, ensuring that Workday operates as a stable, scalable, secure, and well-architected enterprise platform across the full employee lifecycle. The Workday Architect is a hands-on Workday expert, a strategic thought partner, and a builder of future capability. This individual brings deep technical mastery across nearly every facet of Workday, from complex calculated fields and condition rules to end-to-end configuration across HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, Absence, Time Tracking, Security, Integrations, and Reporting. Operating as a senior individual contributor, this role influences outcomes through architecture governance, design authority, and technical leadership rather than people management.
This role not only ensures that Workday operates as a stable, scalable, and well-architected enterprise technology platform, they also help shape the long-term vision for People Technology at Loblaw.

What You’ll Do
Enterprise Architecture & Design Authority
Own and evolve the enterprise Workday HCM architecture, standards, and patterns across all in-scope modules. Review and approve solution designs to ensure alignment to enterprise architecture, security standards, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
Solution Review Board (SRB) Leadership
Establish and chair the Workday Solution Review Board (SRB), defining intake thresholds, required design artifacts, decision rights, and exception handling. Ensure significant changes are reviewed and approved before build begins.
Change & Release Governance
Serve as the Workday architectural representative at Change Advisory Board (CAB), providing risk and impact assessments for releases, integrations, security changes, and production deployments, including rollback and monitoring readiness.
Hands-On Technical Leadership
Provide expert guidance and hands-on support for complex Workday configuration, security design, integrations, reporting, and cross-module solutioning. Support delivery teams during build and testing to resolve high-risk or complex issues early.
Workday Automation & Agent-Based Capabilities
Lead or support the evaluation, design, and governed adoption of Workday automation and agent-based capabilities. Ensure automation solutions are secure, compliant, architecturally sound, and integrated cleanly into existing business processes.
Vendor & Partner Design Oversight
Review and challenge vendor and system integrator solution designs, ensuring adherence to internal architecture standards and long-term supportability post go-live.

High-quality solution designs approved before build, reducing rework and defects
Improved stability and observability of integrations and payroll processes
Effective and well-governed adoption of Workday automation and agent-based capabilities
Reduced release risk and fewer emergency changes through strong CAB participation
Consistent application of architecture and security standards across Workday
What you Bring
10+ years of progressive Workday experience with deep, hands-on configuration across multiple HCM domains
Expert-level knowledge of Workday security, integrations, reporting, and cross-module design patterns
Proven experience operating as an enterprise design authority without people management responsibility
Experience establishing and operating architecture or solution review governance forums
Strong executive communication and influence skills
