The Vice President, Loblaws and Zehrs operations is responsible for driving execution, sales, margin growth, and operational efficiencies across the banner, leveraging data analytics and ensuring compliance. This role fosters strategic talent development and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, customer-centric, and colleague-focused initiatives that strengthen our culture, embody our 'Live Life Well' purpose, and advance the SuperMarket division's future vision.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and leads a team of District Managers to deliver on P&L expectations and long-term business vision
  • Collaborate and contribute across division and all enterprise groups
  • Financial and Business Acumen with strong analytical skills – data driven
  • Live our CORE values and drive blue culture
  • Has strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Passionate about the Colleague and Customer experience
  • Drive customer centricity, value & loyalty through our merchandising & promo programs
  • Provide direction & oversight to market pricing, promotions, merchandising and loyalty strategies
  • Direct initiatives designed to increase colleague engagement, improve labour productivity and improve the colleague experience
  • Determine and effectively communicate strategy regarding store openings, closures, expansion, product assortment, budgets etc.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop a regional marketing/community events calendar and budget; expand the company’s external relationships throughout the region in order to build local company image and customer retention; support other externally focused initiatives as required
  • Collaborate with the SuperMarket Leadership in the management of union relations and negotiations for the region
  • Monitor the competitive environment and propose market-focused responses
  • Approve annual operating budgets, ensuring key targets in the P&L and cost containment are met across the banner.
  • Authorize capital expenditures within established limits.

Role Requirements:

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in a high-impact retail environment with a proven track record of operational success required
  • Strong knowledge of Operations & Financial Acumen
  • Strong knowledge of Merchandising, Pricing and Promotions considered an asset
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams of different sizes and complexities, creating a positive team atmosphere that fosters collaboration and trust
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with a record of accomplishment, professionalism, innovation, integrity and high energy
  • A robust understanding of the competitive landscape, to recognize and capitalize on opportunities to improve competitiveness and innovation
  • An inspirational leader that:

    • Proactively confronts and resolves issues
    • Demonstrates change agility and is able to influence and help the organization adopt new ways of thinking.
  • Proven ability to develop short and long-term plans in line with corporate strategies

  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence with both internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Delivers results in a high-pressure environment with the ability to set priorities and meet challenging deadlines
  • College or University degree preferred
  • Available to travel as required
