Role Mandate

The Senior Manager, Strategic Insights will be responsible for leading a high-impact insights team that brings the voice of the customer, market, and competitive environment into strategic decision-making. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping the company’s growth agenda—translating complex data into actionable recommendations that drive business outcomes in merchandising, marketing, loyalty, digital, and store experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the insights agenda to deliver strategic directions to support enterprise priorities—growth, customer loyalty, affordability, and innovation.
  • Customer & Market Research: Oversee design, execution, and analysis of primary and secondary research, ensuring insights reflect Canada’s multicultural customer base.
  • Advanced Analytics: Partner with data science, category management, and loyalty teams to uncover deep behavioral, attitudinal, and trend insights.
  • Consultative Influence: Lead projects and act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, framing insights to inform decisions on assortment, pricing, brand positioning, and experience design.
  • Team Leadership: Coach and mentor a team of insights professionals; foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Innovation Scanning: Monitor grocery, retail, and consumer trends (including digital adoption, health/wellness, sustainability, and affordability) to identify growth opportunities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with multiple stakeholder teams to drive collaboration, direction and embed insights across the business.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Marketing, Economics, Statistics, or related field; Master’s degree an asset.
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in consumer insights, market research, strategy, or analytics, preferably within grocery, retail, or CPG.
  • Strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, market segmentation, and brand/consumer tracking.
  • Experience working with advanced analytics, loyalty/customer data, and digital engagement metrics.
  • A strategic and curious approach to problem solving, looking at business problems holistically and creatively.
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize data into compelling narratives for senior executives.
  • Proven track record of influencing at the executive level and driving business impact through insights.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
