We are seeking a dynamic and results-orientedSenior Manager, Digital Health, focused in particular on Patient Care Communications to join our team. Reporting into the Senior Director, Digital Health Growth, you will play a pivotal role in defining, leading, and executing our comprehensive patient care communications strategy, directly contributing to significant business growth and patient engagement. 

 

Why this role is important? 

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to lead the strategic development and execution of our Patient Care Communications initiatives. This role is critical in shaping how Shoppers Drug Mart engages with patients digitally, ensuring clear, effective, and empowering communication throughout their healthcare journey. You will be accountable for building out this strategic portfolio of patient care opportunities. Beyond strategy and growth, you will also play a key role in developing future talent by mentoring a co-op student, fostering people management and leadership skills. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, external partners, and senior leadership to drive innovation and measurable impact. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Growth: 

  • Lead the comprehensive development, ownership, and execution of the Patient Care Communications strategy. 

  • Define and manage the strategic roadmap for all patient communication initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader digital health, patient engagement, and enterprise business objectives. 

  • Drive the identification, evaluation, and implementation of innovative digital platforms, tools and messaging to enhance patient communication, education, and empowerment across the entire healthcare continuum. 

  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: 

  • Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with key internal stakeholders (e.g., Pharmacy Services and Operations, LD, Marketing, IT, LT Analytics, Legal, Professional Affairs) to integrate patient-centric digital communication solutions. 

  • Lead day-to-day coordination, problem-solving, and risk mitigation for large, complex, cross-functional initiatives related to patient care communications. 

  • Performance & Analytics: 

  • Establish, monitor, and report on robust metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness, impact, and financial success of patient care communication initiatives. 

  • Conduct advanced market research, competitive analysis, and patient journey mapping to identify emerging trends, best practices, and innovative solutions in patient communication and engagement. 

  • Leverage patient feedback, data insights, and industry trends to continuously optimize communication strategies, driving patient acquisition, engagement, and retention. 

  • People Development: 

  • Mentor and guide a co-op student, providing hands-on experience, fostering their people management skills, and developing their capabilities in project leadership and strategic execution. 

  • Subject Matter Expertise: 

  • Serve as the business lead on patient communication trends, digital health regulations (e.g., PHIPA, HIPAA), and emerging technologies, providing strategic guidance and insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams. 

Requirements: 

  • University degree with a concentration in Business, Health Sciences, Communications, or a related field; Master's degree is an asset. 

  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in digital health strategy, product management, patient engagement, or communications roles, with a proven track record of leading strategic initiatives. 

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and translate complex information into actionable strategies for senior leadership. 

  • Superior oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and engage diverse senior stakeholders effectively. 

  • Proficiency with agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Coda) and presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint). 

  • Understanding  of healthcare regulatory frameworks, patient privacy considerations, and the broader healthcare ecosystem. 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment, demonstrating proactive leadership, adaptability, and resilience.
