Sr. Director, Strategy & Analytics
As the Senior Director of Strategy and Analytics, you will lead a team of high-performing analytical colleagues, responsible for driving the strategic direction of the Sourcing team within Loblaw Companies. At the heart of the Sourcing team is the Sourcing Strategy Center of Excellence, who are responsible for driving momentum and propelling the Sourcing strategic framework and supporting Enterprise objectives. Reporting to the VP, Strategy, Supplier Engagement & Responsible Sourcing, you will partner with senior leaders to support the Chief Sourcing Officer and Sourcing Leadership in implementing transformational change across internal systems, tools, processes, and capabilities. In this role, you will lead the development of enterprise-wide sourcing initiatives and oversee the analytical frameworks that drive data-informed decision-making. This role bridges the gap between raw data insights and strategic execution to optimize costs, improve supplier performance, and enhance supply chain resilience.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership, Insight & Execution:
Lead end-to-end strategy development, defining current states and identifying opportunities for risk management, process improvement and/or cost savings, including being responsible for supporting the annual planning process
Be a trusted advisor to Sourcing Leadership, facilitating workshops and process improvement for strategically important initiatives
Generate insight and market intelligence based on internal and external data
Analytics, Reporting & Data Oversight: Oversee the management of sourcing data, ensuring accuracy, governance and accessibility while leading the development of advanced dashboards and KPIs to track sourcing and supplier performance, leveraging latest tools including AI. This role is also a point of contact for sourcing technology tools and data.
Supplier Partnership Program: Own and next level the sourcing team’s supplier relationship management programs, including supplier segmentation, scorecarding, and facilitating content development of regular high-level forums with key trade and non-trade suppliers.
AI Strategy & Roadmap Development: Working with the VP Strategy, Supplier Engagement & Responsible Sourcing, define and own the multi-year AI Transformation Roadmap for the sourcing division, identifying high-impact use cases for Generative AI and Agentic AI to automate transactional tasks and enhance strategic decision-making and negotiation.
Team Development: Mentor and guide a team of data analysts, strategists, and sourcing professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovative thinking.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, corporate strategy, or management consulting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Background in consumer packaged goods and/or grocery retail industry is also an asset.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering is required; an MBA is strongly preferred.
Analytical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in data visualization and analytics platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Alteryx. Understanding technology frameworks and need for AI transformation is also an asset.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP and procurement systems like SAP Ariba, Fieldglass, Coupa, or Jaggaer.
Process Improvement & Project Management: Knowledge of and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other business process improvement methodologies, as well as ability to run projects on time and effectively.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional ability to present complex data insights clearly and persuasively to executive-level audiences. Ability to facilitate across a broad and diverse group of stakeholders through collaborative work efforts.
