Why this role is important?
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Operations Data Analytics to drive data strategy and insights for our National Operations team.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Operational Insights, Analytics and Performance Optimization, this role is ideal for a hands-on leader who can bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution—someone who thrives on building from scratch, turning raw data into actionable insights, and enabling data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Insights
- Transform complex data into clear, compelling stories that drive operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain dashboards in Power BI to track key operational metrics.
Data Engineering & Sourcing
- Discover, validate, and integrate data from multiple sources (Teradata, POS, workforce management systems, merchandise management system and other databases).
- Define and build robust ETL pipelines using SQL, Python, and cloud-based data integration tools.
- Partner with IT and other teams to structure data foundation to support reporting and analysis that serve business needs.
BI & Analytics Solution Development
- Act as a BI Engineer, designing and optimizing end-to-end analytical solutions.
- Develop interactive BI solutions with advanced UX & UI design for seamless user experience.
- Develop self-service analytics tools for leadership and store managers.
- Build real-time analytics solutions, integrating data from multiple platforms and systems.
- Implement data warehousing best practices, ensuring scalability and cross-platform integration.
Business Acumen & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Merchandizing, Finance, IT, and other departments to align data strategies with business goals.
- Proactively explore new data opportunities to improve efficiency, execution, and shrink reduction.
Education, Skill & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field:
- Data Science / Data Analytics
- Information Systems
- Business Analytics
- Engineering (Industrial, Software, or related field)
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and data engineering roles.
- Retail or operations experience is an asset.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI (dashboard development), Teradata, GCP or other cloud data platforms.
- Experience with ETL pipeline development
- Hands-on experience in Data Visualization, and Analytical Application UX & Design.
- Knowledge of real-time analytics and integrated cross-platform applications.
Business & Operations Knowledge
- Deep understanding of store operations, workforce planning, and retail KPIs.
- Ability to interpret data in the context of real-world store execution.
- Strong storytelling skills—translating data into insights that drive action.
Problem-Solving & Initiative
- Comfortable building from the ground up—willing to get hands dirty in both strategy and execution.
- Ability to work autonomously, navigate ambiguity, and drive initiatives forward.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
