Senior Director, Finance National Wholesale and Real Canadian Liquor Stores
Role Mandate:
The Senior Director, Finance is a key member of the Super Market Finance Team, and reports directly to the VP Finance, Super Market. The Senior Director, Finance, partners with the National Wholesale and Real Canadian Liquor Stores (RCLS) leadership teams and manages the accounting, financial reporting, and finance operations functions of these businesses. This role requires a self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced and multi-faceted environment. Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills are critical for this role which oversees a team of 3 motivated and dynamic professionals.
Key Accountabilities:
- Direct all financial processes and reporting for the National Wholesale and RCLS businesses.
- Lead financial planning and analysis responsibilities including periodic forecasting, preparation of annual Budget and preparation of strategic and financial multi-year plans.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams, including Merchandising and Operations, to grow businesses, improve financial results, and add insights.
- Partner with the National Wholesale and RCLS leadership teams to provide strategic direction, financial modelling, evaluate ideas and implement projects from inception to execution.
- Lead team to complete analytics, insights, and financial reporting on the National Wholesale and RCLS businesses.
- Lead the preparation of materials for business period reviews.
- Lead review of P&L and key financial and business metrics on a periodic basis.
- Oversee all financial processes and balance sheet, periodic P&L reviews.
- Oversee and monitor the annual Capital budget and ongoing projects including analysis and presentations for capital funding and evaluation of results.
- Coordinate special ad-hoc projects and analyses.
- Identify and lead the implementation of process efficiencies, improvements and standardization
- Accountability for operational processes and procedures and ensuring key internal controls meet corporate compliance standards are consistently applied and regularly reviewed.
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Coach and develop the finance team by providing challenges and opportunities to grow and succeed.
Qualifications:
- University degree in accounting, business administration, or finance related discipline
- CPA designation preferred
- 10 years post-qualification work experience in accounting/finance functions with at least 6 years of experience managing teams.
- Strong ability to distill the complex into the simple and to provide value-added insights.
- Results driven, highly analytical and ability to combine high level vision and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative, comfortable partnering with and presenting to senior executives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional quality standards and an ongoing desire to push for innovative approaches, and insights.
- A process-focused individual with a passion to drive and deliver effective change in as short a period as possible.
- Strong stakeholder, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Uses a collaborative approach across all levels of the organization and is respectful of multiple opinions.
- Experience in merchandising finance, and/or operations finance an asset.
- Thrives in a dynamic, fluid, fast-paced environment and can adapt quickly and manage changing priorities.
