Project/Development Senior Coordinator, Real Estate Development

Job Summary:
The Senior Coordinator contributes to the coordination/execution of Loblaw capital projects and is responsible for managing the tracking and reporting on all projects nationally within the Loblaw Real Estate team to ensure delivery of the projects within the targeted timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor all real estate milestones and workflow to implement the annual Capital Plan, strategic opportunities and joint projects between Loblaw Real Estate, Shopper’s Drugmart and Choice REIT
- Coordinate meetings, including required list of attendees and liaison with individual project team members to ensure deliverables are achieved in the required time frame. Flag and report any issues hindering the progress of a particular project or deliverable.
- Maintain effective relationships with contacts in the Loblaw business to assist with the delivery of projects.
- Assist with assembling the appropriate team of consultants (Planning, Traffic, Civil Engineers, Surveyor, Landscape, Architectural and additional consultants based on specific job-related issues) This includes defining scopes of work and budget comparisons to reviewed by the Directors.
- Assists with preparation of acquisition due diligence documents.
- Participate with the Loblaw team of consultants to determine efficient concept and site planning.
- Ensure the Loblaw ACC system is continually updated by consultants.
- Utilize knowledge of municipal government organizations and structures and legislation in order to develop strategies to secure development approvals.
- Conduct zoning and compliance inquiries with municipal approving authorities.
- Assist with providing applicable planning documentation required for submission of various zoning, and Development Permit applications.
- Monitor project progress and reporting status to senior management
- Ensure project agendas and timelines remain on track and within projected time frames
- Track progress of permits and various phases of project cycle promptly to meet planning approval and construction deadlines
- Serve as a liaison with internal trams (design and engineering, construction, finance and legal) and external (consultant, architects)
- Coordinate and monitor letters of credit and securities with finance department.
- Manage/Coordinate project invoicing and evaluate vendor requests and ensure consultant contract adherence
- Support the planning and development teams by tracking and monitoring changes in planning policies
- Coordinate special initiatives as they are assigned
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in planning, engineering, architecture or related field.
- Experience in real estate development industry highly recommended
- Ability to work with multiple teams (REIT, Loblaw/Shopper’s Real Estate, Construction, Finance, Legal)
- Must be highly organized and demonstrate ability to prioritize work. Project management experience optional, but would be an asset
- Great communication skills
- High sense of urgency, with a demonstrated ability to execute on multiple competing priorities in a fast paced + high volume environment.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Highly process and detail oriented.
- Self-starter, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Bluebeam and related applications and systems
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Certification in [related area].
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in a professional development capacity with coordinator experience.
