You’ve built your career leading teams, driving store performance, and delivering results in grocery retail. Now, you may be ready for something more.

The NOFRILLS Franchise Academy is designed for experienced grocery and retail leaders who aspire to take the next step toward becoming a NOFRILLS Owner-Operator.

This is not a traditional training program. It is a structured development pathway focused on preparing high-potential leaders for franchise ownership within one of Canada’s most recognized and community-focused grocery banners.

About the Franchise Academy

The Franchise Academy is a full-time, immersive development program that combines operational leadership, business strategy, mentorship, and hands-on store experience across the NOFRILLS network.

Throughout the program, you will:

  • Strengthen your operational and financial leadership capabilities
  • Gain exposure to high-performing NOFRILLS stores across Canada
  • Learn directly from experienced Owner-Operators and business leaders
  • Lead projects that contribute to store and banner performance
  • Build a deeper understanding of the NOFRILLS operating model
  • Develop the skills required to successfully operate your own business

Successful completion of the program positions candidates to pursue future NOFRILLS franchise opportunities. Today, more than 150 Franchise Academy graduates operate their own NOFRILLS stores across Canada.

Who This Opportunity Is Designed For

This opportunity is ideal for established grocery and retail leaders who are ready to grow beyond traditional management roles and are motivated by the opportunity to lead a business of their own.

You may be a strong fit if you bring:

  • 3–5+ years of progressive leadership experience in grocery, retail, or food operations
  • Strong operational and financial management experience, including labour, shrink, inventory, merchandising, and P&L accountability
  • A proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong business acumen and decision-making capability
  • A customer-first and community-focused leadership approach
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a long-term interest in business ownership
  • Flexibility to travel during the program and relocate for future franchise opportunities

Upon becoming a NOFRILLS Owner-Operator, candidates gain access to:

  • The ability to make a direct impact within their local community

A personal investment of $50,000 is required as part of the franchise process.

Program Requirements

  • Ability to participate in a full-time national development program
  • Willingness to travel and relocate based on business needs and franchise opportunities
  • Successful completion of background and credit checks
  • Personal investment capital of $50,000 available
