Meat/Seafood Department Manager Full Time (Interim)

In this exciting role you will:
• Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to improve productivity, engagement and retention
• Be committed to maintaining merchandising and operational standards
• Be accountable for departmental financial objectives

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure excellence in customer service, make suitable suggestions to customers 
  • Direction, supervision, selection, and development of staff
  • Perform and manage efficient running of department
  • Ensure the department is properly merchandised to Company standards and consumer needs
  • Ensure quality control standards and pricing integrity are upheld while maintaining inventory control records
  • Ensure product ordering and availability to achieve business standards
  • Manage costs within the company budget, ensure accuracy of invoicing and other admin duties
  • Ensure all the required work is completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure proper preparation and packaging of product as well as rotation
  • Implement Company policies and procedures
  • Conduct inventory, monitor waste control and ensure accuracy of invoicing, and other admin duties
  • Responsible for the daily maintenance and clean up of the store which will involve exposure to cleaning solutions for sanitation purposes
  • Communicate with colleagues and management – work together as a team
  • Support and encourage a safe work environment for all colleagues
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required:

  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years experience as a certified Meat Cutter
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
  • Able to operate all equipment and machinery in the meat department
  • Able to work in a cool/damp environment
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position
  • Self-motivated, service oriented team player
  • Excellent organizational skills; able to prioritize workload
  • Strong verbal/written communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Computer skills: required to utilize MS Office, email, and applicable software
  • Flexibility to a variety of hours, which include days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
