Manager, Supplier Engagement Office – ESG Scope 3 - (12-month contract)

The Manager, Supplier Engagement Office, Scope 3 (Contract) is an important new role on a unique and strategic team within the Business Enablement and Enterprise Procurement team. This contract role will be responsible for developing and managing a project plan for a key workstream within the Company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. Loblaw has committed to fight climate change and is determined to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The Scope 3 working committee has developed a board approved strategic plan in this journey and begun to engage stakeholders and implement change. The Manager, Supplier Engagement Office, Scope 3 will be integral to building on this foundation and delivering programs and projects to achieve its long-term mandate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and manage the 2025 project plan for the ESG Scope 3 committee and associated stakeholders. Support the development of the three-year plan for the Loblaw ESG Scope 3 plan
- Work closely with the ESG as well as Sustainability and Social Impact teams to support overall ESG initiatives related to scope 3 (e.g. Annual ESG report) including managing data for the purpose of target tracking
- Work across departments and business units to deliver various components of the 2025 plan. e.g. Website delivery (IT related); supplier training (communication); data collection (IT, data, systems, ESG) etc.
- Ensure delivery of the plan; support stakeholders in execution of the plan; problem solve with efficiency, skill and tact
- Offer insight, recommendations, and solutions to problems with confidence and understanding
- Managing relationships with external consultants and service providers and across internal business units
- Support reporting to Scope 3 and Carbon Committee Chairs as well as company leadership and across business divisions and departments.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in a multitude of functions including project management, data management, communication, advocacy and problem solving is a requirement.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of tools including data management for the purpose of target tracking
- Experience in social responsibility, sustainability and / or ESG matters is an asset
- Project management designation such as PMP is an asset
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing numerous priorities simultaneously and staying organized.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and proactive.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to bring together, and manage interactions with employees from across the organization with competing objectives.
- Excellent problem solver and ability to manage difficult situations with tact and creativity.
- Ability to analyze reports and large data sets with precision and efficiency.
- Excellent communications skills.
