Why is This Role Important
A trusted strategic advisor for our Internal Brands, the Manager, Media Strategy will work with Brand Marketing partners to identify opportunities and barriers to growth and recommend the optimal mix of media solutions to drive business outcomes. This role will serve as the Québec media subject matter expert on the Maxi business, ensuring strategies are informed by local market insights, cultural considerations, language requirements, and regional consumer trends.
You specialize in simplifying complexity and advocating for focused efforts supported by clear learning agendas. This role requires exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and time management skills.
Responsibilities
Lead annual and campaign planning for Loblaw Media’s brand partners, with a particular focus on driving growth and relevance within the Québec market.
Act as the primary media strategy lead and advisor for Québec-focused campaigns, providing expertise on consumer insights, media trends, cultural nuances, and regional opportunities.
Partner with Brand Marketing, account teams, data scientists, audience specialists, and execution teams to develop integrated media programs that resonate with Québec consumers.
Translate marketing and advertising objectives into media strategies that balance national consistency with regional relevance.
Identify opportunities to optimize French-language and Québec-specific media investments across digital, social, retail media, and traditional channels.
Manage day-to-day campaign strategy, including planning, implementation, optimization recommendations, reporting, and performance analysis.
Make timely strategic and tactical recommendations based on Loblaw customer insights, campaign performance, and Québec market intelligence.
Develop learning agendas and measurement frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of Québec-specific media initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between clients and internal departments including Ad Operations, Creative, Production, and Analytics teams.
Mentor and support Media Specialists, helping to build organizational capability in Québec media strategy and planning.
Work with Finance and Ad Operations on forecasting, budget tracking, contracting, and billing issue resolution.

Strong analytical skills with experience measuring media effectiveness and business impact.

Skills & Requirements
4+ years of experience in media planning, account management, campaign management, or media strategy; retail or CPG experience is an asset.
Demonstrated experience developing media strategies for Québec audiences and markets.
Strong understanding of Québec media vendors, publisher landscape, audience behaviors, and regional media consumption trends.
Experience managing end-to-end client or stakeholder relationships in a consultative environment.
Experience with digital media platforms including Meta Business Manager, DV360, Google Ads, social media, and retail media networks.
Strong understanding of marketing, creative development, media planning, and ad operations.
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders while meeting tight deadlines.
Bilingualism (French and English) strongly preferred, with the ability to present and communicate effectively in both languages.
Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
As all our contractors are paid an hourly rate rather than a fixed salary, kindly note the hourly rate for this position is $47 per hour. In the case of any discrepancy between this hourly pay rate and the posted annual salary range below, the hourly pay rate will be upheld.
