Why is this role important
 

Our Store Team Members are inspired doers. They help provide a positive in-store shopping experience by ensuring the store is always ready with available products that meet customer needs to live life well. Our stores function 24 hours a day - even when there are no customers in our aisles. A very special group of people - our night crew - work during the night to ensure that our stores are ready for customers by the time we open in the morning. Each night, our night crew staff receives product deliveries from our distribution centers. These deliveries are sorted and the product is used to fill our shelves and displays. If you're a night owl who works quickly and independently you should consider applying for a position as a full-time night crew clerk.

What you’ll do 

  • Provide great customer service by ensuring the store shelves are stocked and by responding to customer needs

  • Maintain and stock product displays and shelves that meet company standards

  • Ensure accurate product scanning and identify inventory needs and assist with ordering

  • Setup company-directed promotions and programs

  • Keep department areas neat and ensure health and safety standards 

  • Train and motivate staff

  • Delegate and prioritize workload for staff

  • Effectively merchandise advertising and promotional programs

  • Maintain up to date information about market trends and competitor activities

  • Receiving, handling and storing of product to achieve optimal results

  • Ensure proper product rotation as required

  • Ensure pricing integrity

  • Any other duties that may be required to ensure courteous friendly service, competitively priced products, and a store that meets and maintains the hygiene standards specified.

Qualifications/Experience No previous experience is required, but is an asset.

  • Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for the no frills concept as a discount food store focusing on low price image.

  • Demonstrated understanding of a full time clerks’ impact on store performance in the following ways:

    • merchandising to appropriate No Frills standards

    • checking invoices for proper product / pricing / quantities

    • maintaining cleanliness to appropriate standards

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated Customer focus

  • Ability to manage people

  • Ability to work with minimal functional direction

  • Available to work nights and varying shifts, including weekends and evenings

  • Demonstrated accountability for entire store in the absence of a manager:

    • key carrying / alarm responsibilities

    • loss prevention

    • health and safety

  • Able to move up to 50lbs and in constant mobility for an entire shift
