Overview:

Reporting into the Sr. Manager, the Financial Analyst will support the ongoing reporting requirements of the Home & Entertainment, Health and Beauty (HEHB) BU, perform ad hoc analyses based on business needs, and participate in the periodic forecasting and annual budgeting processes. This is a highly visible role, with opportunities to work directly with the sr. leadership team and grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Job Duties:

The primary function of the Financial Analyst will be to facilitate financial reporting for the HEHB business. This largely includes routine tasks which are either performed on a weekly or daily basis. These reports are relied upon heavily by the sr. leadership team to support their decision making and to provide clear insights into business performance. Examples include:

  • Daily sales and gross margin tracking

  • Tracking financial impacts of store renovations and BU initiatives

  • Monitoring key metrics impacting the BU, including offshore freight costs

  • Financial recaps, with varying levels of granularity

In addition to routine reporting, the Financial Analyst will also be responsible for addressing, and/or supporting the Sr. Manager with, ad hoc requests. This may include:

  • Providing financial insights to the merchant teams through assisting with ad hoc requests (can range from generation of new reports to facilitating the payment of an invoice)

  • Supporting the FP&A and Merchant teams by preparing slides for various stakeholder meetings

  • Deep diving into existing processes to look for improvements and develop control

The Financial Analyst will also be responsible for assisting with the periodic forecasting and annual budgeting processes. Largely, this will involve compilation of data, which is populated by the Category teams, modifying this data to fit submission requirements, and loading this data into the corporate forecasting tool. The Financial Analyst is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the submission. In addition, the Financial Analyst may be asked to help implement process improvements and roll forward files at year end or in preparation for the budget.
