Digital Marketing Specialist

Why is this role important?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Messaging, the Digital Messaging Specialist will support the manager with technical development and implementation of 1:1 communication campaigns, automated workflows and marketing journeys. The Digital Messaging Specialist will build, manage, and deploy campaigns/journeys/automations/triggers, prepare data, and analyze metrics to identify insights for email, SMS and push campaigns. The majority of the Digital Messaging Specialist’s time will be spent working within digital messaging platforms (primarily Salesforce Marketing Cloud and MoEngage) and will apply HTML, AMPscript, Jinja and SQL skills to build, maintain, and deploy impactful customer-facing messages.
Note: This is a 12 month contract with opportunity for renewal. This role requires working 4 days on-site per week.
Requirements & responsibilities
Work with marketing team and other business stakeholders (such as Analytics, Design, Copy, Product, Tech) to successfully develop 1-1 messaging campaigns through Email, Push, and SMS channels aligned to business goals and programs
Develop messaging touchpoints & campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud and MoEngage, employing HTML, Jinja, and AMPscript to build and maintain templates, content blocks, and custom campaigns.
Maintain & optimize customer journeys by utilizing HTML, Jinja, and AMPscript to implement new control/test content modules, decision splits, and cadence adjustments.
Deploy campaigns including data preparation and beta testing, A/B and multivariate tests, quality assurance, maintain pre-deployment checklists, post-deployment reporting and analysis
Use campaign quality assurance skills and tools (e.g., Litmus) and deployment checklists to ensure campaigns are deployed error-free
Support the Manager in building automated reports to derive lifecycle marketing insights, optimize strategies, and inform testing approaches
Maintain ESP databases, data pipelines, content libraries, email templates, and ensure the uptime of automated journeys through logs and audits
Identify and recommend test & learn opportunities within campaigns & journeys using metrics & data-driven insights
Experience required:
Post-secondary degree
3-5 years of work experience in email marketing, digital customer experience, or a similar role.
2+ years of hands-on experience with building journeys and automations, writing queries, developing email programs/campaigns, and reporting.
Strong understanding of email compliance standards and regulations, including CASL, CAN-SPAM, and GDPR/ePD.
Proficient in programmatic and scripting language skills, including HTML, CSS, Java, AMPscript, SQL, APIs.
Understanding of email copy and design best practices across platforms and devices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Critical thinker with the ability and willingness to pivot as business needs and expectations change.
Solid communications/presentation skills and the ability to work in a fluid corporate work environment with multiple stakeholders.
Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Capable of managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.
