Digital Designer -12 Month Contract

Why is this role important?

Why is this role important: As a Digital Designer, Shoppers Drug Mart you will be responsible for developing design deliverables that elevate, differentiate, and function on-brand and on-strategy. We are looking for someone with strong creative and technical skills, who can handle multiple projects at once – seeing projects from ideation through to production. Candidate would report into the Digital Design Lead on Digital Experience.


What you'll do:

  • Develop and lead campaigns by providing art direction and refined, on brand design solutions
  • Support and mentor co-ops and designers on the team
  • Lead design sessions and workshops that contribute through creative concepts and creative input. Be involved in conceptualization and design of graphic applications from concept to completion
  • Support Design Lead in scaling team, inspiring creativity, and conveying overall team vision of best in class digital experiences
  • Create designs that are consistent with brand guidelines. Be accountable for brand consistency across creative assets
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the broader marketing team to support design needs and ad-hoc requests
  • Present design solutions regularly to key stakeholders
  • QA design work and provide necessary feedback for successful and accessible customer-facing output
  • Be detailed in the organization of projects. This includes management of project briefs, awareness of project specs, deadlines, files, etc.
  • Balance and manage team workload and resourcing according to the established business priorities and timelines
  • Establish process improvements and opportunities for increased efficiency and automation

Does this sound like you:

  • 3-5 years in digital design creating digital marketing collateral and editorial designs
  • A strong portfolio (only candidates with a portfolio will be considered)
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Experience with motion design is an asset
  • Knowledge of digital design process and best practices, including image optimization, responsive design, and basic HTML and CSS, and content management systems
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and operate in a fast-paced work environment
  • Open-minded and able to give and take constructive feedback. Participate in design sessions and contribute through creative input
  • Ability to solve problems and manage stakeholder needs, as well as complex business operational needs and constraints
  • Use data and customer insights to guide and advocate for your work
  • Experience working in an agile work-stream is an asset
  • Proficiency in French or experience in bilingual design is an asset
  • Experience working on platforms such as Jira and Coda considered an asset
