Loblaw Companies Limited (LCL) is driven by innovation and a customer-first mentality, and we’re looking for an Associate Creative Director (ACD) to play a key role in shaping the creative vision and storytelling strategy for social media within our Social Media Centre of Excellence (COE).
As Associate Creative Director, Control and Enterprise Brands, reporting to the Director, Creative & Content, you will work in partnership with another ACD to co-lead the integrated creative team, overseeing a team of designers, motion designers, illustrators, copywriters and content creators. Together, you will drive the creative strategy and execution for impactful, high-performing organic, paid, and influencer-led social campaigns across LCL’s retail banners—including Presidents Choice, No Name, PC Optimum and Enterprise programs.
This is a fast-paced, collaborative role that requires a deep understanding of social-first creative, digital storytelling, and platform-native content development. Key Responsibilities
Co-lead the integrated creative department in partnership with your ACD counterpart, ensuring a unified creative vision and seamless integration of design, motion, and storytelling across all social content.
Lead and mentor a team of designers, motion designers, illustrators, copywriters, and content creators, fostering a collaborative, high-performance creative culture that delivers best-in-class work.
Bring a strong copy background to the table—confident developing compelling social-first narratives, but never above jumping in to write hands-on when the business needs it.
Develop and execute bold, platform-native creative concepts that are social-first, culturally relevant, and strategically aligned with business objectives.
Champion social storytelling, ensuring every asset—static, motion, or video—feels authentic, engaging, and optimized for platform behaviors on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
Oversee the creation of photography, illustration, and animation assets, ensuring high design and production standards.
Provide strategic and creative feedback to designers and copywriters, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and business objectives.
Present creative concepts confidently, securing buy-in from senior stakeholders while advocating for innovative, social-first creative approaches.
Partner closely with the ACD - Retail, ensuring alignment on creative strategy and optimizing team resourcing across multiple brand initiatives.
Collaborate with production leads and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising creative excellence.
Stay ahead of industry trends, continuously experimenting with new storytelling formats, technologies, and social media best practices to keep our content fresh and competitive.
Qualifications
7+ years of creative experience, with a strong portfolio of social-first, high-impact creative campaigns.
Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing and inspiring multidisciplinary creative teams.
Expertise in leading social-first creative from concept to execution, ensuring work is engaging, visually compelling, and aligned with platform best practices.
Deep understanding of storytelling through design and copy, with the ability to blend visual craft and narrative in a way that drives engagement.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and defend creative ideas to senior stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and performance-driven creative strategies.
