Role Summary

The Allocations Analyst at Loblaw Companies Limited plays a crucial role in optimizing the distribution and availability of promotional and special program items across our store network. This position is responsible for supporting the review process on projected forecasts for all promotional programs. The Analyst will determine the correct amount of inventory to be allocated to stores based on store-specific sales history, mapping, and impacts due to promotional strategy and seasonality. A key aspect of this role is to provide the analytics to support the gap in projections between category and allocations, ensuring that both sales are maximized and inventory is minimized. This role involves leveraging data analytics and collaborating with various internal teams to support promotional sales strategies and enhance customer experience. The Analyst will also actively seek opportunities to streamline and refine processes for increased accuracy and efficiency within the allocation function. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive forecast reviews for all regular promotional items and special programs.

    • Generate and present analytical insights to support forecast positions, particularly when significant discrepancies exist between category and allocation estimates.

    • Advise on optimal merchandising tools and allocation methodologies (e.g., loose cases, half/full pallet display units, or a combination) to maximize promotional impact.

    • Determine precise item allocations based on store-specific sales history, mapping data, and seasonality impacts.

    • Complete Floor Mapping allocations to optimize inventory flow and availability.

    • Allocate items lacking individual sales history by leveraging comparable item performance and/or category historical data.

    • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all store records pertinent to allocation processes.

    • Adjust store-specific allocations dynamically, considering current on-hand inventory levels when requested by Banner/Promo teams.

    • Implement targeted allocation adjustments based on feedback from District Managers, Customer Experience Specialists, and Store Managers.

    • Review promo change management files to confirm item procurement or cancellation statuses.

    • Collaborate effectively with Category Teams and Off-shore Allocation Teams to review and refine promotional sales strategies and planning.

    • Follow up with the BCS team to resolve allocation/distro issues as required.

    • Develop and implement alternative supply plans when primary allocations are not triggered as expected.

    • Support Demand Planners by conducting reviews of system forecasts against promotional allocations.

    • Proactively identify and implement opportunities for continuous process improvement and efficiency refinements within allocation procedures.

Qualifications

    • Post-secondary education (college diploma or university degree) in Business, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related quantitative field.

    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially advanced Excel), enterprise systems like JDA (Luminate Demand Edge) and SAP, and database query languages such as SQL.

    • Proficiency in analytical tools and programming languages such as Python, SAS, or VBA/Macro development is considered a strong asset.

    • Demonstrated working knowledge of replenishment systems and inventory management strategies.

    • Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

    • Proven adaptability and resilience in responding to new situations and navigating a constantly evolving environment.

    • A collaborative team player with a passion for continuous learning and fostering strong working relationships.

    • A proactive self-starter with a demonstrated ability to thrive independently in a demanding work environment.
