Sr. ML Engineer, Brampton, ON

Loblaw Technology and Analytics is looking for an experienced, dedicated Data Scientist to join our fast-growing team of Data Scientists, Engineers, Frontend Developers and Designers to build and enhance Loblaw's price optimization platform.

In addition to knowledge of statistics and machine learning, you will bring experience in cloud-based development, engineering best practices and end-to-end product development. You will solve novel problems related to forecasting and optimization using transactional data on thousands of products. The team will look to your expertise in building production-ready data science solutions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Employ strong software engineering skills to develop frameworks or tools to help productionize our models

  • Be a strong individual contributor who can demonstrate the feasibility of novel ML approaches and estimate business value at scale.

  • Work with various data and technology teams to ensure delivery, governance, and production standards.

  • Work closely with domain experts to improve our raw data and to derive more value from data collected

  • Implement and experiment with new algorithms and methodologies to help improve our machine learning models

  • Develop a highly engaged team by being an inclusive coach, mentor, and role model for all team members to help grow and promote our diverse talent pool.

What you Bring:

  • 5+ years of industry experience applying machine learning methods

  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work in a multi-functional environment and a keen ability to learn new tools, concepts, and subject matters.

  • Experience with Data Science languages (Python, SQL) & experience working with cloud platforms (GCP)

  • Experience in software engineering best practices (e.g. object oriented programming, automated testing, writing ‘clean code’).

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience working with Git Workflows, Jira, and Confluence.
