Sr Data Analyst, Data Engineering, Brampton
The Data Engineering team at Loblaw is seeking a Senior Data Analyst with background in data analytics, cloud platforms, and relational databases. We are currently in the process of modernizing the data infrastructure onto cloud technologies to unlock the value of our data and drive richer insights to our business partners
As the Sr. Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to support large data initiatives by applying their expertise in acquiring, analyzing, and manipulating data to identify insights and data patterns. The candidate will be responsible for crafting and maintaining data requirements, transformations, and system documentation.
What You'll Do:
- Data Analytics: Leverage advanced tools and languages such as Python, SQL, and others to extract, transform, and analyze complex data from diverse databases and disconnected datasets. Translate data into actionable insights tailored for various stakeholders.
- Business & Data Requirements: Elicit, document, and analyze business and data requirements to design end-to-end solutions, including data models, ETL workflows, governance frameworks, metadata management, and reporting mechanisms.
- Collaboration: Work closely with business, analytics, and technical teams on cross-functional data initiatives to address complex business challenges and deliver scalable solutions.
- Data Architecture & Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to enhance business and data processes, leveraging industry best practices in data engineering and management. Develop and maintain detailed documentation to support robust and scalable solutions.
- Agile Development Support: Collaborate with engineer and project teams to assist in implementing complex, scalable, and cutting-edge features that meet evolving business needs.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- At least 3–5 years in roles such as data analyst, data engineering, or similar, with demonstrated expertise in SQL, data modeling, and storytelling with data.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) is mandatory. Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing concepts, data pipeline management, metadata management, and data lifecycle processes.
- Advanced knowledge of data analytics, data mining, cleansing, and statistical analysis. Proficiency in SQL, Python (or other scripting languages). Visualization tools like Tableau, or Looker is a plus.
- Ability to analyze business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend solutions that drive measurable impact. Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to present technical concepts and complex data in an accessible and actionable format for both technical and non-technical audiences.
