Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Brampton, ON
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer with database expertise to join our talented Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. This role will play a pivotal function in managing, optimizing, and securing our database systems while also contributing to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices from a database perspective.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced skill set in one or more RDBMS technologies, demonstrate expertise in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and setting up best practices for database operations. This role reports to the Director, Site Reliability Engineering and will work closely with various engineering teams influencing development of reliable products, standardization of reusable solutions, and adoption of resiliency and reliability principles.
What You'll Do:
Design, implement, and manage high-performance, highly available database systems across on-premise and multi-cloud environments (GCP/OCI/Azure).
Lead database migration initiatives to multi-cloud PaaS/IaaS stacks, ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime, and optimal performance.
Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning while troubleshooting complex database issues to ensure system reliability.
Automate routine database tasks (backups, replication, monitoring) and collaborate with SRE teams to implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting.
Implement stringent security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Participate in on-call rotations, diagnose, mitigate, fix / escalate incidents as needed.
What You Bring:
Advanced expertise in at least two RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, DB2).
Experience working with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis) is a bonus.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and/or Ansible.
Familiarity with SRE principles, including reliability, observability, and incident management.
Experience with GCP/OCI/Azure database services (e.g., Cloud SQL, BigQuery, or Firestore) and/or hybrid cloud database setups.
